Gail's New Mustang GT350

After racing, mostly, Jaguars of one sort or another since 2002 and picking up three titles in the process I decided that in 2015 i was going to do something different and in a car with better performance possibilities than my old Jags. In fairness the last thing I thought I would end up with was a yank tank! I looked at BMW M3's and the Kumho Championship and at MGBGT V8's, Alfa GTV 2000's and I even liked the look of TVR Griffiths 200's but on investigation other than the M3 my budget was too small. So as I looked more seriously at M3's a call came through that a 1965 Mustang fastback GT350 recreation might be available.

I could not resist, especially when I saw the spec. Mountune 351 cu in, 450bhp engine, Jericho 4 speed dog box and easily adjustable NASCAR rear axle. With its gleaming American racing paint job and a sound like thunder when fired up she had my name on the moment I saw her. So now I have just a week to go before setting off for my first test at Snetterton on 26th March and all things being well my first race with Bernie's V8's at Donington on Saturday 28th.

I am really looking forward to getting to grips with the power, probably scary handling and sitting on the wrong side of the car with all that entails.

This season if my plans work out I shall be racing with the CSCC Swinging 60's, Bernies V8's and dipping my toe into AMOC Intermarque series, not to mention hopefully going over to Spa.

Provisional dates will be published soon as well as my first test report next week. There are more pictures of the Mustang in the gallery...
